Search by text “partial word and-order search”
This is the default text search routine and is for those of us who can not spell very well. When a preacher is quoting a scripture from the pulpit, the words are always in the right order, we just need a few pieces of key words to find the scripture.
Searching for JES WEP finds three scriptures:
Matthew 26:75 ... the word of Jesus ... and wept bitterly.
Mark 14:72 ... the word that Jesus said ... thereon, he wept.
John 11:35 Jesus wept.
Searching for WEP JES finds nothing.
Word fragments must be in order.
Searching for N HE BEG OD EAT HE VEN ND TH EAR finds one scripture.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Search by text "partial word in any order"
+jes wep
finds the same results as
+wep jes
Search by text "exact phrase"
Place a double quote at the beginning of your search.
“jes wep finds nothing.
“jesus wep finds John 11:35.
“jesus wept finds John 11:35.
Search by text WARNING
QuickSword has a known flaw. If you search for something common such as "the",
you should expect a very long delay due to the fact that nearly every
scripture contains the word "the". QuickSword will respond with the hour
glass cursor. Clicking on the program will cause the title bar to say (Not Responding).
You can wait it out, or forcefully close the application and re-open.
Getting a book after finding a verse
Using the example from above I search for jes wep. This gives me
results of three scriptures. John 11:35 is the scripture I am looking
for. I select John 11:35 and press F2. QuickSword will
automatically perform a reference search for John 11 35 giving
me the results of John 11:35-57.
You can also use multiple translations of the Bible
Valid translation abbreviations could include:
KJV = King James Version
AMP = Amplified Bible
NASB = New American Standard Bible
LBLA = La Biblia de las Américas
To search the Amplified Bible type this:
AMP Gen 1 1
AMP Gen 1 2 6
AMP Gen 2:5-7,16
AMP jes wep
AMP “in the beginning
AMP +Jesus loves
You can search multiple translations:
KJV AMP Gen 1 1
AMP NASB KJV jes wep
You can display two translations on the projector at the same time:
KJV=AMP Gen 1 1
AMP=NASB jes wep
